Vintage year for Cognac seniors

COGNAC, FRANCE: The 22nd TIS Cognac seniors event took place from 10-16th July at the Cognac tennis club in France.

The men's over 35's event was won by Vincent Gray of Great Britain, who won all three of his round robin matches without dropping a set.

The men's over 55's was won by second seed Francis Boyer from France who dropped just five games on his way to the title.

Frenchman Jean Claude Bonhomme won the men's over 60's although it was an altogether closer affair. Bonhomme defeated compatriot Philippe Sautet 61 57 64.

There was an international flavour in the men's over 65's final with Michael Hepker of Great Britain defeating top seed KJell Worren of Norway.

Jean-Francois Houlier of France lived up to his top seeding in the men's over 70 category, clinching the title with a three set win over frenchman Andre-Bruno Muesser.

Dick Crawford from the USA was in imperious form in the men's over 75's whilst top seed Maurice Jamois from France won the Men's over 80's category.

The women's over 50's event was won by Veronica Lima de Angelis from the USA and Annick Veschembes from France collected the women's over 60's title.

Third seed Brigitte Godefroid from France clinched the women's over 65's title without dropping a set and Mary Jeanne Marty picked up the women's over 70's title.

Second seed Sabine Leflaive won the women's over 75's age category defeating top seed Yvette Laubus, also from France, in the final.
